Making a name for themselves with Sue’s Café & Takeaway located at Banksia Beach, Sue & Chris Venderley have been hard at work for the past 3 years perfecting the ultimate takeaway experience – jaw-dropping juicy burgers, perfectly cooked chips with an array of tasty toppings, with the freshest selection of fish & calamari that melts in your mouth.

The reputation for satisfying meals at Sue’s Café & Takeaway has been strong over the years, so it’s little wonder then that the desire to push out has created the chance to open Sue’s Bar & Grill in Bongaree right outside the iconic Bribie Island Jetty.


Sue Venderley has been in the cooking trade for 40 years and has a wealth of experience behind her. Having moved to Bribie Island in 1992, her reputation has preceded her over time. Acknowledged for the home-style meals that she’s been known for has created an established following of people who go where she goes. Close by her side is her husband, Chris Venderley, who is now an adopted Australian through citizenship having hailed from the Midwestern state of Indiana in the U.S.A. His influence has helped shape the menu at the Café & Takeaway and continues to do so with the Bar & Grill.


While Sue’s Bar & Grill is still distinctly Australian and focused on locally-grown produce, there is a healthy dose of Americana present as soon as you walk in the doors. From the gazing stare of the great American buffalo dubbed “Chief” to the unique beers & ciders on offer at the bar alongside the best wines from Australia. The menu is also filled to the brim of all sorts of mouth-watering cuisines, together with a helpful guide to what food is true American origin. We’ve tried to accommodate all tastes.
